Sterlite Tech to manage Navy’s communication network in ₹3,500-cr deal

Data network solutions company Sterlite Tech on Tuesday announced that it has been awarded the Confirmed Purchase Order for designing, building and managing the Indian Navy’s digital network.
This multi-year ₹3,500 crore project contract includes design, execution, operations and maintenance of the Navy Digital Network.
In February 2018, Sterlite Tech had announced the award of the Advanced Purchase Order (APO) for this project.
This network will give the Indian Navy digital defence supremacy at par with the best naval forces in the world. It includes the creation of an independent high-capacity end-to-end communications network, linking multiple Indian naval sites and India-administered islands. It will include setting-up of highly secure data centres and Big Data content delivery networks that are software-defined.
“This is the first time an integrated end-to-end digital network at such a scale is being built in India, empowering the Indian Navy to secure our borders till the farthest posts in India,” said Anand Agarwal, Group CEO, Sterlite Tech.
“Our technologies will enable the Indian Navy to ride new-age applications with advanced security solutions while bringing real-time situational awareness and faster decision making. It will also position our Navy for future-readiness, preparing for network virtualisation, Big Data analytics and customised enterprise applications,” he said.
“Our state-of-the-art converged network will enable the Indian Navy to detect and resolve all digital threats on the network. With this, the Indian Navy will have a secure and reliable information highway for defence and administrative operations,” said KS Rao, CEO, Telecom Services Business, Sterlite Tech. “We have been ramping up our partner ecosystem and recruitment over the last few months and are ready to begin work,” he said.
