Chabahar Port In Iran Being Develoed By India Is Almost Ready

The Chabahar port that India was developing in the southwestern part of Iran has almost completed its work. It has been hoped by the central government that by the month of May this port will start operating fully and operations will start completely here. This port is being considered important for regional trade. Apart from this, this port is a weapon for India, which will increase the tension not only of Pakistan but also of China.
Goods Will Go To Afghanistan
Chabahar port is an easy way to ship goods not only to Iran but also to Afghanistan and other countries of Central Asia. India will now be able to trade to Central Asia and there will be no need to look towards Pakistan for that. However, the US sanctions on Iran are definitely going to increase India’s concern.
It is believed that there will be a result soon and there will be no impact on the investment of $ 500 million. Mansukh Mandavia, who takes charge of the Ministry of Shipping and Ports, has told news agency Reuters that Chabahar may be inaugurated for full scale operations by April or May and will go to Iran for this.
Getting Two Terminals Ready
India is building two terminals at Chabahar including Shahid Beheshti Complex. Apart from this, an agreement has been signed with Iran under which India will operate this terminal for 10 years. Mandavia said that 123 ships have been operating at Chabahar port from February 2019 to January 2021 and 1.8 million tonnes of cargo has been dispatched.
Last year, due to the Corona virus epidemic, India used Chabahar port and sent 75,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan. Apart from this, 25 tonnes of pesticide was also sent. The Chabahar Port Project is very important for India. At the commencement of this port, Chabahar International will connect with the North-South Transport Corridor.
Just 100 km from Gwadar
The most important is that Chabahar port is only about 100 km away from Gwadar Port, which is being operated by China in Pakistan. China is spending $ 46 billion to build Gwadar Port and wants to open new trade and transport routes in Asia through this port.
At the same time, with the help of Chabahar Port, the road and rail traffic to the border of Afghanistan will be developed and India’s access to Afghanistan as well as the whole of Central Asia will be ensured. This corridor runs from Bandar Abbas in Iran to Russia, Europe and Eurasia.
Why Is It Special For India
Chabahar is not only a strategy for India to trade water in Central Asia, but it is also an initiative to strengthen relations with other countries in the times to come. This route will also benefit Russia and the countries of Europe.
In such a situation, according to the strategy, Chabahar is very special, where not only will there be a focus on trade for Afghanistan, but on one side India and other countries like Iran and Russia will be able to use it.
The distance between Kandla and Chabahar Port will now be less than the distance between Delhi to Mumbai. That means goods will now be transported easily and fast between India and Iran. With this new route, trade between India and Iran, Afghanistan will reduce both the cost and time.
