China Preparing To Launch The World’s Largest Non-US Aircraft Carrier, May Threaten The Indo-Pacific Region
31 July 2021
China Type 003 Aircraft Carrier: Apart from the Ladakh region of India, China is trying its best to increase its strength in the Indian Ocean as well. It is preparing to launch the world’s largest non-US aircraft carrier by the end of 2021. Due to which concerns are being raised about the security of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). China is already not respecting global laws in the South China Sea and is adopting a gunboot strategy.
According to Western media reports, this third aircraft carrier has been labeled as Type 003 after Liaoning and Shandong. However, before it is ready, two more aircraft carriers will join the Chinese Carrier Battle Groups (CBG) by the end of this decade. Western defense experts say they have tried to underestimate the PLA naval carrier development programme, citing China’s low access to technology. At the same time, the Indian Navy knows that the third aircraft carrier can create instability in the Indo-Pacific.
Weighing More Than 85 Thousand Tons
In this case, the former Indian Navy officer says, ‘The question is not how China acquired this technology, but how it will affect India and the IOR.’ On the other hand, if we talk about this vessel, it can be more than 85 thousand tons, which will have Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System. With which the ship can launch the aircraft with more fuel and weapons. Along with this, facilities like aerial radar, anti-submarine warfare and aerial refueling will be present.
Attempt To Dominate The Indian Ocean
According to reports, it is being said that China will try to establish its dominance in the Indian Ocean with five giant aircraft carriers in the coming 10 years. While talking about other ships, Shandong is considered to be much bigger than Liaoning. On which 36 fighter aircraft can also come. While Liaoning has a capacity of 24 fighter aircraft. The US believes that the CBG can be targeted with a long-range ballistic missile.
